My Journey at the IS Hackathon

Participating in the 36-hr IS Hack organized by the Information System Club at KUSOM was an memorable experience which was held on June 14 & 15, 2024. As a first-time hackathon participant, I was both excited and nervous. Me and My Team composed of Nischal tamang, Sonu Thapa Magar and Sanjeev magar came together with a shared passion for technology and innovation. The pre-hackathon workshops were incredibly helpful, providing us with insights into the latest tools and techniques. We spent hours for brainstorming and finally decided to develop a project on smart solid waste management system.

The day of the hackathon was intense but exhilarating. From the moment we received the problem statement, we were in constant motion—coding, debugging, and refining our project. Mentors were available throughout the event, offering guidance that was crucial in overcoming several technical hurdles. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the energy of like-minded individuals all working towards a common goal. When it came time to present, our team delivered a clear and concise pitch, complete with a live demo of our project that led us to secure first runner-up position. We received valuable feedback from the judges, which will undoubtedly shape our future projects. This hackathon not only enhanced my technical skills but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration that I will carry forward in my career.
